Work from home 2024 – Still worth it?

Is working from home (WFH) still feasible in 2024?

I believe it is. Back in 2020, when the

COVID-19 pandemic hit, I lost my job. After several months of job hunting, I landed an opportunity with Farmers Insurance Group as an IT professional. The role was 100% remote, and while I didn’t particularly enjoy the job itself, I appreciated the

work-from-home culture. The convenience of not having to commute, waking up later, and seamlessly transitioning from home life to work made it appealing.
Initially, my home office setup was less than ideal. I had a basic, uninspiring computer desk that barely accommodated my laptop and monitor. There was no room for a separate keyboard, so I used the laptop keyboard instead. However, I invested in a gaming chair from eBay (around $100), which served me well.

Over time, I decided to improve my setup. I moved it to the attic, where I purchased a budget-friendly $30 foldable desk from BJ’s Wholesale Club

Starting with affordable options, I gradually upgraded. Two monitors became part of my workspace, and I even added a subwoofer for music (purchased for $50 from Staples). Power cords, a webcam, and a wireless keyboard and mouse completed my home office.

Now, my cozy little office is where I spend most of my workday, even though I’m no longer working from home full time. The hybrid mode allows me to enjoy the best of both worlds.
